HV grid connection & substation delivery | Field execution ownership
The Opportunity
Compute is becoming the critical infrastructure of the 21st century — and compute runs on power. As Senior Project Manager Power Infrastructure, you will deliver the complete power chain: 110 and 400 kV grid connection, HV substation with owner-furnished transformers, and MV distribution.
This is not a coordination role in a corporate matrix. You run field execution, own schedule and budget of the power scope, and are accountable for energisation. Time to power is one of the key metrics for any data centre build. In this role you keep the trains running on time — power at the site, on time and on budget.
What You'll Own
- EPC & Contract Management
- Run EPC contractors for grid connection, substation, and MV distribution from award to taking-over: scope, schedule, cost, acceptance
- Run FIDIC-based contracts: variations, claims, milestone acceptance, payment certification
- Hold the weekly cadence: progress, look-aheads, interface meetings, decision and action logs
- Schedule, Cost & Risk
- Own the power-scope schedule, feeding the integrated programme plan
- Own the contractual interfaces to civil works, buildings, and the transmission operator's upstream works
- Manage the respective CAPEX budget: forecast and change control
- Identify risks early and drive mitigation plans to closure
- Owner-Furnished Equipment & Expediting
- Track delivery of long-lead items — power transformers above all — from purchase order to site
- Expedite manufacturing at OEMs: milestones, FAT scheduling, transport, delivery windows
- Construction, Testing & Energisation
- Oversee site works for progress, HSE, and acceptance with the Engineer and statutory supervision
- Drive SAT, protection testing, grid-conformity tests, and the energisation sequence with the TSO
- Reporting
- Deliver weekly progress and risk reporting to the executive team
- Work with the overall data centre build scheduling and controls team to keep the schedule current and the interfaces managed
